'Don't ask, don't tell' repeal in the works
Written by Carrie Stone
Senate and House votes could begin Thursday on repealing the "don't ask, don't tell" law barring homosexuals from openly serving in the U.S. military.
The Senate Armed Services Committee and the House would come one day after repeal supporters said they secured the votes needed to pass the legislation out of committee, CNN reported.
Committee member Sen. Robert Byrd, D-W.Va., said he would vote for the measure after he secured language that would delay the repeal for 60 days after certification of a military review by President Obama, Defense Secretary Robert Gates and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen.
"I did not want to blindly assent to repealing this law without giving the Congress an opportunity to re-examine the concerns of our armed forces and the manner in which they are being addressed," Byrd said.
However, the leaders of the four military branches expressed opposition to any congressional action before the military completes its review in a letter to key Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Republican Rep. Buck McKeon of California.
Pennsylvania Congressman Patrick Murphy, who co sponsored the measure in the house, has a petition up on his website. Please take a minute to sign it

No matter how you feel about anyone's sexuality. No matter your religious beliefs. No matter your cultural traditions. If you are straight in America, choice or not, you've got advantages. A society where one group has advantages over the other enshrined into law is not an equal society. Wasn't equality the whole point of the Civil Rights movement?

Seven years after the Episcopal Church caused an uproar by consecrating its first openly gay bishop, it has done the same thing again – only this time with a woman.
The Rev. Canon Mary Glasspool, of Baltimore, was ordained and consecrated on Saturday, making her the second openly gay bishop in church history and one of the first two female bishops in the Diocese of Los Angeles' 114-year history.

I don’t remember exactly when I felt his erection pressing into my back. It might have been while he whispered in my ear, “Long ago, you were the Golden Child. But, somehow, that Golden Child was hurt, and you put up a wall to protect yourself.” Or it might have been when other men in the room broke out in song:
To Heckle With It

There is no reason for President Obama not to vocally request that Congress send a repeal of DADT to his desk. And if he does, the LGBT community should show just as much enthusiasm come November in supporting the Democrats who will have made it happen as they are in pushing for it right now.
